Fantasy Book Tag

I was browsing through booktube videos and came across this tag. I decided to do it here because fantasy is my favorite genre and I think I have read more fantasy books than any other genre. This tag was created by JHT-books. All the pictures in this post are from my time in Japan. Hope you like them! I have been thinking that I could write post(s) about my time in Japan, would that be interesting to anyone to read?

1. What is the longest fantasy series that you have ever read?

Belgariad-series and the sequel series The Malloreon by David Eddings. They consist of five books each and were actually first fantasy series that I read. I fell in love with them and with fantasy as a genre.

2. Favorite fantastical setting or world.

Pern or Middle Earth or Harry Potter’s world… There’s too many choices really, I would love to visit so many places that I have read about.

3. Besides Harry Potter, what is your favorite fantasy book/series?

The choices, choices… It’s either A Song of Ice and Fire-series by George R. R. Martin or Ursula K. Le Guin’s Earthsea-series.

4. What fantasy book do you wish was more popular?

Assassin’s Apprentice. It’s one of my favorite books/series and I don’t see many people talking about it. She’s a great writer and I love all of her series that I have read. This book also was first of the books that were from assassins point of view and I felt it to be really refreshing at the time.

5. Your favorite villain.

Lord Voldemort. Mostly because I couldn’t really remember any other villains at the moment :D. When I read the Harry Potter books first time Lord Voldemort just felt really scary and I still get shivers when I read about him.

6.What’s the first fantasy book you have ever read?

Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews. It was a bookclub pick and I tried to read it and hated it. It felt like nobody read it before releasing, there were so many mistakes and everything in it just felt so irritating.

7. Your favorite Harry Potter book.

The Prisoner of Azkaban definitely. It has been my favorite from the first time I ever read it, because it doesn’t feel as light as the first two books but still isn’t as dark the latter books. It’s my comfort book that I read when I need something familiar. Also hippogriffs <3.

8. What is your favorite mythical creature?

Dragons! Every dragon ever! I just can’t get enough of them. When I was smaller I used to imagine that I had my own pet dragon.

9. Favorite female protagonist from a fantasy book?

Vin from Mistborn series or Polgara from Belgarian Universe. They are just so strong and in the Polgara the Sorceress you can read how she grows up and she was my favorite female protagonist when I was younger. I wanted to become just like her, kind and gentle and fierce and beautiful. I actually dreamed that I could have dark hair with one white curl like her.

10. Favorite male protagonist?

This is hard. There’s so many great fantasy series that have male protagonists. I have say either Kvothe from Kingkiller series or Fitz from the Farseer-series. I feel so nostalgic when I think about Fitz because I read it when I was teenager and loved him but right now Kingkiller-series is one of my favorites and I like Kvothe so much!

WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading. To participate you just need to answer these three following questions:

1. What are you currently reading?
2. What did you recently finish reading?
3. What do you think you’ll read next?

1. What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading Night Film by Marisha Pessl. I picked this up because Regan from Peruse Project is reading it and tweeted that it’s really scary. So I decided it to be a good read for October, with Halloween coming and all that.

2. What did you recently finish reading?

Today I finished In Real Life by Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang. This was by first graphic novel by them and enjoyed it a lot. It’s about this girl that starts to game and how she handles different problems arising from the game.

3. What do you think you’ll read next?

I’ll be either reading The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch or Varistyttö (The Crow Girl in English) by Erik Axl Sund. I don’t really know which one to read next Lynch’s book is a 1st book in a fantasy series and Varistyttö is a psycological crime novel I think. You can leave me a comment and tell me what do you think which one I should pick up next.

What are your WWW’s? Tell me down in the comments!

Top 10 Tuesday | New series I want to start

Top Ten Tuesday is weekly feature/meme organized by The Broke and the Bookish. It’s for all of those people who love lists and want to share them to other people! Every week they have a different feature posted on their site which you can answer with your own list. This weeks feature is the top 10 new series that I can’t wait to start.

 1. The Mortal Instruments – series by Cassandra Clare

Yes, I haven’t started this series yet. I own the books 1, 3 and 4 and I actually don’t have any good reason for why I haven’t started it yet. I’ll start this soon so I can share the feelings.

2. The Selection – series by Kiera Cass

I own the first book from this series too and I don’t know why I haven’t read it yet. Other books got ahead?

3. Pretty Little Liars – series by Sara Shepard

I have read some books in Sara Shepard’s other series The Lying Games and I liked those so I would like to read this series too. Also I want to see the tv-show based on the books but to do that I need to read the books first.

4. The Stormlight Archive – series by Brandon Sanderson

I have read Brandon Sanderson’s first book in The Mistborn – series and liked it a lot. Also this series has gotten a lot of hype around the booktube and bookblogs so I would like to read it. One day perhaps.

5. Rebel Belle – series by Rachel Hawkins

I don’t really know much about this series, actually nothing, but I have seen it mentioned and praised so many times that I want to see what’s it about. Also I love the cover. It’s so pretty.

6. Alienated – series by Melissa Landers

I stumbled across this book couple weeks ago and I decided that I would like to read it. I haven’t read many alien YA – books and I feel they are becoming the next hype. The plot in this book seemed interesting and I like the cover which also made me want to read this.

7. The Winner’s trilogy – series by Marie Rutkoski

First things first, the cover is gorgeous. That alone makes me want to read this book. Also I have heard great things about this book so I can’t wait to start reading it.

8. Throne of Glass – series by Sarah J. Maas

Again really popular series that I haven’t gotten around to read. But this will change soon! I ordered the first book last week, so it should come soon. Hopefully I get to read it before the end of the year.

9. Mara Dyer – series by Michelle Hodkin

As you can see, I am really bad at reading the most popular books. This is again series that I have heard so many great things but haven’t gotten around to read it. The final book is released this month so maybe finally I get to read this series. I might marathon it in the future.

10. The Grisha – trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

This trilogy also has been one that I have meant to read but never gotten really around. I have heard great things about this too, so I might marathon these books soon.

This was my top 10 Tuesday post, have you read any of the series? Any series I must start reading? Tell me what series you haven’t started yet but want to start soon?
