Week in Review | Week 50

week in review

Welcome to my weekly wrap up -post where I talk about the books I have read and what else has been going on in my life. As a side note, I still don’t have a camera because mine doesn’t work and I’m taking all these photos with my phone. The quality of these photos just frustrates me because I want to take good pictures to share with you guys but it just seems that I can’t.

Books I Read

1. The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson 5 stars
2. Taivaslaulu by Pauliina Rauhala 3 stars
3. I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai with Christina Lamb 4 stars
4. Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence 3.5 stars
5. Lock In by John Scalzi 4 stars

Even though I read five books this week it still felt a slow reading week. I liked the feeling because it made me feel that I concentrated more on the book I was reading and didn’t just read because I had to. Also there was so many books that just made me feel different things like the end of Mistborn-trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, I still can’t really formulate my thoughts around the idea that it ended. Luckily he has written more books in that series so when I feel emotionally prepared I’ll be continuing it definitely.

I’ll be doing for most of the books their own separate reviews but I decided to talk about Taivaslaulu here because it was in Finnish and I don’t have enough to say about it to make it’s own review. It’s about this Laestadian couple and how the way they are having a new baby every year, makes the wife more and more tired and finally she just can’t handle it. At the same time we get to read about these different traditions and views of the worlds that they have. It was an interesting read. I liked how the writing was sort of a lyrical and the way that the couple felt about each other over the years was portrayed well. The writer actually used couple different writing styles throughout the book and at one point it felt little bit distracting and also made it hard for me to get attached to the characters.

I also finished my first audio book in a long time, Lock In by John Scalzi. I’ll be doing a separate review for this too, to discuss all the things it made me feel. Now I really want to start a new audio book, so if you have any suggestions, tell me down on the comments!

Next Week

C360_2014-12-14-14-04-03-479I’m currently reading Just One Day by Gayle Forman. I’m only couple chapters in but seems to be a cute contemporary romance. I also need to finish The Chimes: A Goblin Story and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens for A Very Dickens Christmas Read-Along. Because the week just somehow flew past me this week I didn’t get to reading The Chimes: A Goblin Story but hopefully I’ll be reading it at the beginning of the week.

Blogwise I’ll be continuing my blogmas posts and I have been thinking of writing some of my challenges for next year. Also I might participate on the booktube – a – thon, which is from 19th to 21st of December.

How was your week? What did you read? Tell me down on the comments!
